Wolberg joins an exclusive group of police chaplains
Cantor Richard Wolberg of Temple Beth El recently realized a remarkable achievement as police department chaplain.
Wolberg, who is Spiritual Leader at the temple, has been a chaplain for the police force for more than two years. He also is chaplain of the Massachusetts Coalition of Police.
On Jan. 27, he completed a 120-hour basic training course for reserve/intermittent police officers in a school held at the Westport Police Department.
“The uniqueness of this situation is that I am the fourth police chaplain in history to have attended and completed an accredited police academy, and the first outside of California,” he said.
The National Association of Police Organizations is a coalition of law enforcement unions and associations from across the United States that serves to advance the interests of America’s law enforcement officers through legislative and legal advocacy, political action and education. NAPO funds police chaplains for attending police academies.
