Westport denies auto dealer a license

A Route 6 auto dealer has been put out of business by the town for permit violations and allegations of selling a car that couldn’t pass inspection and selling to another person under a different business name.
Auto Victoria, which was permitted as an Internet-only business, sold cars as a traditional dealership, with cars displayed out front with price tags in each window, the town said. The dealer also did not have restrooms, which was in violation of the business permit.
The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously at a hearing Monday to deny Auto Victoria a new business permit after the last one expired at the end of 2009. Owner Paul Albergaria did not show up for the hearing.
