Police are still searching for two men in a red pickup truck in connection with a reported abduction attempt of a 12-year-old boy Sunday night in the area of Regan Road and Riley Avenue.
“We’ve been looking into some leads,” said Somerset Police Chief Joseph Ferreira. “So far none of them have panned out.”
Police said Sunday the boy went outside to get something from a family vehicle about 8:20 p.m.
He told police that an older model red pickup truck — perhaps from the early 1990s — with mud on its side pulled up, occupied by two black males.
The boy said the men asked for directions. When they told him they couldn’t hear him, the boy moved closer to the truck and said one of the men lunged out the window and tried to grab him. The boy said he did not know the men.
