Two finalists named for Apponequet principal opening

The Regional School System plans to name a new Apponequet Regional High School principal next week, and a former B.M.C. Durfee High School teacher is one of two finalists who have been named.  
Superintendent John E. McCarthy said on Thursday that a search committee — featuring parents, students, principals, school committee members and teachers — whittled the applicant pool from 22 to two.
The committee last week interviewed finalists Chris Costa, a former Durfee High School teacher and the current vice principal of Apponequet, and Jill Proulx, the current principal of King Philip Regional High School in Wrentham.
Costa has been a vice principal at the high school since 2004 after serving as a Durfee teacher and coach for 10 years.
McCarthy said he will conduct site visits at both Apponequet and KPRHS in Wrentham next week before the Regional School Committee makes a final decision next week.
