Two arrested for discharging firearms in Fall River’s North Park

Shots fired in the air attracted both attention and the police Monday in North Park.
Two men were arrested and two guns were seized as a result.
Christopher Duarte, 20, of Quequechan Street, was charged with carrying a firearm without a license and firing a gun in the city limits. He already had warrants for his arrest on charges of receiving stolen property, possession of drugs, driving an unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle and larceny, police said.
Cory A. Gonsalves of Brownell Street was charged with distributing drugs at a playground and possession of drugs.
Callers told police at 7:15 p.m. that someone was firing a gun in North Park on President Avenue.
Officer James Donovan, the first officer on the scene, reported that 30 to 40 people, from teenagers to 30 years of age, were in the park, most of them in the skate park area.
