Tractor trailer drops load, closes highway during rush hour
A tractor trailer dropped part of its load on Route 195 eastbound right at the east end of the Braga Bridge Thursday at 8:35 a.m., closing the highway during the morning rush hour.
Traffic was backed up to the Swansea line within minutes as state and local officials worked to clean the roadway and get the tractor trailer and four damaged cars off the road.
Four people were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries, the Massachusetts State Police report.
The eastbound lanes were completely closed for several minutes at the foot of the Braga Bridge to allow work crews to clear the road. By 9 a.m., police had two lanes open and traffic inched past the area. Tow trucks were hooking and hauling away damaged vehicles that had been pushed to the side of the road.
