Tiverton Town Council race has 13 contenders for 7 seats

There will be at least three new faces on the Town Council in 2011.
With longtime councilors Louise Durfee and Joanne Arruda opting to vie for posts on the Budget Committee, and Hannibal Costa choosing not to seek another term, 13 town residents filed papers to run for seven seats in the November election.

Among the residents vying for a council post are current Budget Committee Vice-Chairman Robert Coulter and Michael Smith, who served as moderator during the contentious Financial Town Meeting this spring. David Nelson, president of the political action committee Tiverton Citizens for Change, has also thrown his hat into the ring.

Other residents running for posts on the Town Council include: Jeffrey Belli, Kevin Goulet, Brett Pelletier, Mark DeMello, Joan Chabot and Stuart Horwitz.
