The Fourth of July show will go on

A lack of city funds will not cause the annual Fourth of July fireworks to fizzle out this year.
Despite difficult fiscal times that forced Mayor Robert Correia to remove $25,000 typically earmarked for a July 4th celebration from the city’s budget, a coalition of local businesses have stepped in to give residents a full weekend of events to celebrate the holiday.
Flanked by a long line of sponsors during a Thursday press conference, Correia announced the show will go on this year thanks to the help of the business community. The assistance will not only mean fireworks will light up the sky on the fourth, but a whole range of activities will take place throughout the weekend.
