Calling her the candidate most responsive to the needs of those living in public housing, the Joint Tenants Association has given its endorsement to Cathy Ann Viveiros.
Viveiros received the endorsement after being serenaded by a crowd of residents at the Edward Doolan Apartments calling for her to become the next mayor.
Joint Tenants Association President Bill King said the decision to endorse Viveiros came after watching the candidates in a series of debates.
“After watching her in the debate, me and the vice-chairman knew who to endorse,” King said.
He said the suggestion was then brought to the full leadership of the association for their approval. The association represents all tenants in elderly and family public housing, and Section 8 units. King said the association represents 1,500 people living in family developments and a similar number in other properties.
