Swansea School Department to offer survey for parents

Parents who want an easy way to comment on their children’s education will soon be able to go online to let the school department know what’s on their minds.
Available on the school department’s Web site from March 19 to March 26, a questionnaire about school performance titled “School Assessments Parent Survey” will offer a section about civil rights and general sections that will allow parents to answer questions about aspects of their children’s school experience.
“Schools that receive federal funding are audited every 10 years and we had our audit last year,” said Karen Ragland, assistant principal at Swansea’s Joseph Case High School.
Ragland said the audit was the genesis for this year’s survey. It will be the first survey conducted in Swansea schools, and Ragland hopes it will be the first of many.
