Swansea Mall holding registration for Summer Reading Club

Swansea Mall held the first of three book distributions on Saturday, June 5, with the kick off of the Summer Reading Club. During the event, 85 children registered and pledged to read during summer vacation. Each child received a free book when they registered, and a copy of the winning bookmark designed by Lucy M., 10, of Barrington, R.I., from the bookmark contest held earlier this year.
The program was created to enhance reading skills and enjoyment while school is out. It is geared for children ages 5 to 12. The program encourages children to read 12 books or more and keep track of what they read during the summer.
 Those who were unable to attend the kick off event on June 5 can still register at the mall’s customer service center until Saturday, July 10.
