Sullivan: Corrigan Center won’t face budget cuts

Cuts that were feared to hit the state-funded Corrigan Mental Health Center will not take place after all, Rep. David Sullivan, D-Fall River, said Wednesday.
Corrigan, a facility on Hillside Street, was at risk of losing 16 beds under cuts that were proposed as part of midyear state budget reductions.
Corrigan never lost beds, and although Sullivan said in February that the center was still at risk of cuts in fiscal 2011, it appears that won’t happen either.
Sullivan, a Democrat whose district includes Fall River and parts of Berkley and Freetown, said he learned though talks with state Department of Mental Health officials that Corrigan won’t face program cuts.
