St. Anne’s to open wound care center

St. Anne’s Hospital, a member of Caritas Christi Healthcare, announced that it will open a new Center for Wound Healing on Aug. 31. The center will help those with chronic wounds caused by diabetes, poor circulation and other diseases.
It was the second recent announcement that advanced wound care treatment would be available in the city.
Charlton Memorial Hospital announced Tuesday that it would open a wound care center in February. Patients of both hospitals will have access to these advanced treatments.
“The good news is that the people of Fall River are winners (to have these treatment options),” Anne Ferreira, a spokeswoman for St. Anne’s Hospital, said Wednesday.
Each hospital will have its own hyperbaric oxygen chamber in early 2010. The chamber is used to deliver pure oxygen to accelerate the healing of chronic and hard-to-heal wounds.
