Silvia running for Aguiar’s 7th Bristol District rep seat
Concerned that current state Rep. Kevin Aguiar isn’t doing enough to represent the city’s South End, Alan Silvia is tossing his hat into the political ring.
Silvia on Monday announced he will challenge Aguiar for the Democratic nomination for the 7th Bristol District representative seat. Current chairman of the city’s Planning Board, Silvia served for 20 years in the police department as a patrolman and detective. During his service, Silvia played a key role in the investigation of the Carl Drew murders of 1979 and 1980.
“Now more than ever there needs to be a change,” Silvia said. “There has been no action from the present legislator, no communication to the people in the south end of the city and no direction, and I’d like to change that.”
