Senior pummels would-be attacker with rock

Police are seeking the public’s help in apprehending a man who tried to force a 66-year-old woman into his car in broad daylight Sunday.
The would-be kidnapper, unknown to the woman, retreated when she pummeled his face with a rock and kicked him, police said.
Police spokesman Sgt. Paul Gauvin said Officer Adam Talbot responded to the Kennedy Park area about 1 p.m., regarding an attempted abduction.
The victim told Talbot that she was walking west on the Middle Street side of Kennedy Park when she was approached by an unidentified woman. The victim said that the woman told her about a suspicious-looking car in the area, Gauvin said.
“The victim, heeding the warning, then armed herself with a fist-sized rock and continued her walk,” he said.  
She was walking east on Bradford Avenue, near Bay Street, when she was approached by an Hispanic male, Gauvin said.
