Seasonal tradition, HN Holiday Fund, launches

 There’s a bare tree this holiday season that needs your help. Decorate it, and help provide a happy holiday for those in need.
Today marks the launch of The Herald News’ annual donation drive, the HN Holiday Fund. This year, the proceeds will go toward a pair of worthwhile local organizations: Citizens For Citizens and the Salvation Army. CFC is an antipoverty social services agency that assists more than 42,000 people in Southeastern Massachusetts every year. The Salvation Army provides food, clothing and shelter in addition to rental and utility assistance.

The Herald News is kicking things off with a new event: “Trim Our Tree.” For every donation received, an ornament with the donor’s name will be added to the tree. With everyone’s help, the tree — along with dinner tables, closets and toy chests — will be full of glad tidings by Christmastime.
