Sculpture stolen in Tiverton was cut into pieces; two arrested
A pair of arrests were made Wednesday in the theft of a sculpture from the Four Corners Arts Center.
James MacNaught, 31, of Tiverton and Robert Coelho, 29, of Fall River, both face felony charges of receiving stolen property and also conspiracy charges.
The sculpture “Embrace of Life II” was reported missing on Tuesday and Tiverton police received information that MacNaught and Coelho were found cutting into the piece of art with the intent of destroying it and selling it for scrap metal. The duo were arraigned in Newport District Court today.
