Proulx named principal of Apponequet High School

King Philip Regional High School principal Jill Proulx was named the new principal of Apponequet Regional High School on Wednesday.
Proulx won the job over current Apponequet Associate Principal Chris Costa, a former B.M.C. Durfee High School graduate, teacher and coach.
Proulx will officially begin July 1. She will succeed current Principal Gary P. Lincoln, who is retiring at the end of the year.
The two finalists were interviewed by a panel of students, parents and teachers. Freetown-Lakeville school Superintendent John McCarthy interviewed them this week before deciding that Proulx was the best candidate for the job.
McCarthy called it a “difficult decision.”
 On Wednesday, McCarthy mentioned that Proulx has worked for her current school district for 17 years, spending 13 years as a high school history teacher. She served two of those years as a department head and one year as an assistant principal before becoming a principal.
