Police warn parents to be vigilant after report of attempted abduction

Police Chief Joseph Ferreira and School Superintendent Richard Medeiros say they don’t believe a recent attempted child abduction is related to similar incidents in Fall River and Tiverton in the last two weeks, but both caution the town’s parents to be vigilant.
Medeiros reported a middle school student was approached Thursday by two men who tried to lure him into their motor vehicle. Medeiros said the incident occurred on Washington Avenue about 3 p.m. after the boy got off a school bus.
Medeiros said the incident was reported to police and the Fisher Bus Co. He also wanted the community at large to be informed of it in order to have “heightened awareness.”
He said the boy described the vehicle as a dark blue or black Toyota or Subaru with the driver being a white man, 20 to 30 years of age, wearing a red baseball cap backwards. No description of the second [...]
