Officials respond to lawsuit threat
It’s been several years since the city’s been taken to court over its adult entertainment laws, and city officials said they’ll await the legal actions Paul Viveros is threatening before deciding how to respond.
“There are quite a few people who are ready to sign a class-action suit,” Viveros said.
He claimed the city was violating constitutional rights of those that want to work in strip clubs and those that wish to be entertained by them, a battle Viveros said he’s fought against the city for 14 years.
Mayor Robert Correia, who favors creating an adult entertainment zone, lost to two challengers in the preliminary election and will leave office in three months.
“The mayor continues to have concerns about the city being vulnerable. His position hasn’t changed,” Ines Leite, Correia’s spokeswoman, said Friday.
