Oak Bluffs resident joins crowded field for Gov’s Council seat
When he saw an open seat on the Governor’s Council, Thomas Hallahan also saw an opportunity.
Hallahan, a Democrat from Oak Bluffs, said he had considered running for the District 1 seat on the council in the past, but having heard positive reviews of sitting member Carole Fiola, he decided against campaigning. Now that Fiola has said she will not seek re-election after 10 years on the council, Hallahan said he wants the position.
“I know what Carole did was valued by many people and she did her due diligence … so if somebody is doing a good job, unless I need to have my ego stroked, then why run,” Hallahan said.
As he seeks the District 1 seat, Hallahan said he is particularly interested in the council’s role in making judicial appointments. He said based on his background, which includes serving as a policy consultant for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health [...]
