New cancer center opens Saturday
St. Anne’s Hospital is putting the final touches on its all new Regional Cancer Care campus, a $21 million radiation therapy center set to open with a public celebration on Saturday.
Visitors can tour the 21,000-square-foot facility and view the advanced equipment that will be used to deliver radiation therapy to patients with cancer.
The new center is a satellite campus of Hudner Oncology at Saint Anne’s Hospital in Fall River, though it is larger. The cancer center will be a nearby option for patients living in Dartmouth, New Bedford and communities farther east.
"We’re glad to be here for everyone who needs coherent, thorough care," said Dr. Rita M. Linggood, chief of St. Anne’s radiation oncology program, associate professor at Harvard Medical School and an attending radiation oncologist at Massachusetts General Hospital. "We’re here for the entire community."
The new building is located at the Hawthorne Medical Associates complex at 537 Faunce Corner [...]
