Mayoral appointments, salary hikes on agenda for City Council ordinance committee

The agenda for Wednesday’s meeting of the City Council ordinance committee is jam packed, with nine items requiring attention.
The Committee on Ordinances & Legislation will consider instituting a ratification process for appointments made by outgoing mayors, and whether to approve a list of laws regulating the Copicut Reservoir shoreline. The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers, after the Committee on Regulations subcommittee meets at 4:40.
The council could amend an ordinance governing public watershed lands surrounding the reservoir, adding prohibitions on swimming, boating, fires and camping, animals within 100 feet of the shoreline, alcoholic beverages and tree cutting.
As refined several times, the ordinance also would prohibit waterfowl hunting, ice fishing and and use of live bait except as allowed by state regulations.
Parking would be limited to designated areas. Use would not be prohibited from 30 minutes after sunset until 30 minutes before sunrise.
