Markey sets his sights on House seat
Having contemplated a campaign for the Bristol County District Attorney’s office, Christopher Markey has instead set his sights on Boston.
Markey, of Dartmouth, said that with District Attorney Sam Sutter’s decision to abandoned a run for attorney general and instead seek another four-year term, he, too has shifted plans. Markey said he will now seek the ninth Bristol state representative seat currently held by John Quinn.
That seat is being opened by Quinn’s decision to run for the position of Bristol County Sheriff.
The ninth Bristol district represents the towns of Dartmouth, Freetown and Lakeville and the city of New Bedford.
Markey, a Democrat, said he decided to shift gears because the legislative seat offers many of the same qualities as his previous position in the District Attorney’s office.
