Many in Fall River affected by power outage

About 2,700 National Grid customers were affected by a power outage Saturday.
Debbie Drew of the company said the outage occurred about 1:30 p.m. in the area of Plymouth Avenue and Pleasant Street where an underground cable failed.
Repair crews responded and power was restored to most customers, but as of 6:30 p.m., 830 customers in that area were still without power, Drew said.
Crews pumped water out of manholes to identify where the fault was, she said.
“They may have to look for alternate ways to service the remaining customers, possibly into another feed,” Drew said.
