Guardian Angels descend into Fall River

A group of Guardian Angels, led by their founder and director, Curtis Sliwa, walked through several troubled city neighborhoods on Sunday.
The citizens anti-crime watchdog group met at the McDonald’s on Plymouth Avenue near Interstate 195 about mid-afternoon before touring the Flint on foot. Rain forced the group to drive the Corky Row and East Main Street neighborhoods and the Sunset Hill housing complex area.
In the Flint, Sliwa and his members walked in the area of Pleasant and Harrison streets. They hung up recruitment signs inside some businesses and explained what they do.
Sliwa said the visit will allow the group to gauge interest in starting a Fall River chapter. He said the New Bedford chapter is working closely with the Brockton group, and both could eventually aid a startup chapter in Fall River.
