FROM THE PULPIT: We must hear God more than once a week

"But He answered them, ‘My Father is working until now, and I myself am working.’”
                                                                                                                                                      — John 5:17
This is quite a claim that Jesus makes. He is saying that He is equal to God — no, I correct that. He is saying that He is God.
This was too much for the religious leaders of that day. And Jesus knew that what He was claiming would have this effect. He intended it to, because He had something very important and crucial to convey. Let’s look at what He said: “My Father is working until now, and I myself am also working.”
Working on what? The one thing that separates every human being from God, which is sin. The goal of everything that God does, every campaign He has ever organized, every detail of our lives that He orchestrates, is to draw us away from sin and back into fellowship [...]
