FROM THE PULPIT: Guilt is a heavy load to bear

Today, the Diocese of Fall River continues a weekend called “Be Reconciled to God.” It is an attempt through preaching, teaching, media and the Internet to remind Catholics of the wonderful graces to be found in the Sacrament of Penance, Reconciliation or, as it is most commonly known, Confession.
Having started yesterday, it will continue today in all parishes with the scheduling of confessions from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 3:30 p.m. This gives everyone an opportunity to go to any church for confession.
In light of this weekend, it might be profitable to ask ourselves when was the last time we went to confession.
Confession is an opportunity to receive God’s grace and an opportunity to set everything right with God. No one is perfect, and it is good to place ourselves in God’s good graces.
