FROM THE PULPIT: Does God really heal us?

Most if not all of us know someone who’s experienced a miraculous recovery from illness. A person in our life has been sick in some way, and it’s looked like there was no way out. But, then, wham! The next thing you know, they’re better. God’s healed them, hasn’t he?  
In my life, there’s Sam, my brother-in-law. Sam was diagnosed with Stage IV brain cancer and, even with aggressive treatment at a top-notch hospital, he was given just a few months to live. His chances for survival were basically nil.
Well, that was more than 10 years ago and Sam’s still with us. In fact, he’s back on his feet and doing great. Truly, it was a miraculous recovery, for which I thank God.  
But for every miraculous healing, there seems to be many cases where there is no miracle. Two of my friends have recently lost young parents to cancer. [...]
