First day of school for the new Kuss

Despite it being the last day of school, a group of students touring the new Matthew J. Kuss Middle School admitted the building would make it worth returning to school a couple months early.
That revelation came as Karl Hetzler, co-chairman of the building oversight committee, made another pass through the building Wednesday moments before the largest jewel in the crown of new city schools was officially unveiled.
In a ceremony that brought current and past politicians together with students, the new Matthew J. Kuss Middle School was dedicated in honor of the former state representative, whose name also graced the old school.
The gleaming new building sitting on the banks of Mount Hope Bay sparkled as the Kuss band played and guests sat in the 500-plus seat auditorium on cushioned seats that members of the building oversight committee said it took mroe than two hours to pick out.
