Two firefighters were promoted to the rank of lieutenant at a meeting of the Board of Fire Commissioners Thursday night.
Paul Machado Jr. and Chad Landry had their new badges pinned on by family members.
Machado was joined in the ceremony by his wife, Kelly, two daughters, Meaghan and Kaitllan, and his younger brothers, Christopher and Patrick, who are also Fall River firefighters.
Paul Machado’s wife and daughters pinned his badge, then his brothers attached insignia to his uniform lapels.
Pinning the badge on Landry was his proud father, John, who gave his son a congratulatory handshake and firm pat on the back.  
Machado has been on the department since April 2005 and Landry joined the force in September 1998. Landry also served in the Emergency Management Services Division as an emergency medical technician.
Machado’s brothers Christopher and Patrick have been on the department since October 2001 and November 2005, respectively.
