CRYSTAL CLEAR: City water report comes back clean
The city’s annual water quality report includes a one-time violation for E. coli bacteria last July but otherwise shows “very high-quality water,” Public Services Administrator Terrance Sullivan said.
The report, which residents and businesses have been receiving in the mail the past few days, includes readings from thousands of tests, some performed daily. The E. coli violation was from a restaurant tap on Rodman Street, one of 25 citywide weekly testing sites for the contaminant in homes and businesses.
After the reading that showed bacteria present, other tests both at the same site and nearby sites came back clean, Sullivan said. The Water Department thought the violation was from contamination on the tap itself, not the water, he said.
