Civic leaders convene network to end homelessness in Mass.

Each morning on his walk to the courthouse, defense attorney and state Rep. James Fagan says hello to Manny, a homeless man who sleeps in a nearby trash container. During their friendly exchange, Fagan often gives Manny a dollar while hearing the latest news on the street and a report on the weather during the night.
As co-chair of a new regional network cooperative, Fagan intends to help guys like Manny finds places to call home.
During a kick-off at the Stoneforge restaurant Tuesday afternoon, Fagan and New Bedford banker Peter J. Muise were introduced as the heads of the South Coast Regional Network to End Homelessness. The group is one of 10 regional networks in Massachusetts advocating the home-first strategy, with a pledge to eliminate homelessness in all communities by 2013.
