City spent $14,000 on mailing
City officials tabulated spending $14,402.60 to distribute 30,849 letters and schedules pertaining to yard waste and rubbish collection schedules over the past few days.
Most of the cost was for postage, $13,200, with $603 for paper, $252 for envelopes and $347.60 in overtime expenses, according to Ines Leite, spokeswoman for Mayor Robert Correia.
Correia said volunteers also helped put out the mailing the city began to distribute over the weekend, and he thanked residents for being patient and responsible citizens.
Funds came from the office of information technology systems, which under Director John Niewola printed and put the mailing together, officials said.
