Barney Frank faces foes of health care reform
No one said it had to be civil.
Hundreds of area residents — many angry with the state of the economy and President Barack Obama’s plan for health care reform — converged on the Dartmouth Council on Aging building Tuesday night looking for answers. U.S. Rep., Barney Frank, D-Mass., was looking to give some — when the crowd let him.
Frank was interrupted more than a dozen times throughout the two-hour informational meeting focusing on the status of a publicly funded health care overhaul option. Through much of the meeting, people in the crowd heckled, booed and laughed at him as he tried to answer questions from residents lined up through the door and out into the parking lot.
Dartmouth Democratic Town Committee Chairman Raymond Medeiros Jr. saw the COA room fill to capacity 40 minutes before the event’s 6:30 p.m. start. He encouraged those who wanted to attend to watch the television [...]
