Alleged chain saw thief arrested in Westport

A Westport man has been arrested, accused of twice breaking into a shop in Coaksett Commons on Route 6 to steal chain saws.
Troy Borden, 45, of 16 Lenox Ave., was arrested Thursday after he was identified on the store’s surveillance video, police said. The first break-in at Bruce’s Saw Shop was March 24 at around 9:30 p.m. The second was on March 29 at around 1:47 a.m.
In the first incident, a witness told police they saw a man walk out of the shop, which had a shattered glass door, holding four chain saws. The man then drove away, leaving the chain saws in the parking lot. Police were called again to the shop five days later, finding the front door shattered and three chain saws on the floor but locked to the wall by a chain, police said.
