Accused Fall River rapist linked to past abduction attempt

Police have linked the man accused of snatching a woman from her front porch and raping her to another abduction attempt in March.
Police spokesman Sgt. Paul Gauvin said Angel Luis Cruz, 37, of 186 Tremont St., Apt. 1, has been tied to the March 21 event near Kennedy Park, in which the 66-year-old woman he attempted to abduct fought for her freedom by kicking and hitting Cruz in the face several times with a rock, causing his face to bleed profusely.
The woman had armed herself with the rock after another woman walking in the area of Kennedy Park alerted her to the presence of suspicious looking vehicle in the area.
Cruz was arrested earlier this week after allegedly kidnapping a 58-year-old woman from her front porch, taking her to his apartment and raping her.
