Accused boat thief charged again with trying to steal same boat
Two months to the day after Berkley resident Robert Nunes allegedly tried and failed to steal a boat, he was arrested again for allegedly trying and failing to steal the same boat a second time.
Nunes, 21, of 96 S. Main St., Berkley, was arrested a little after 2 a.m. on Tuesday after police received a call from witnesses saying a male was attempting to steal a 22-foot work boat from the Somerset Marina, 3828 Riverside Ave.. police said.
Nunes had been arrested on May 6 for allegedly trying to steal the same boat from the Somerset Marina.
The witnesses, who were sleeping on a boat docked nearby, told police they were awakened after hearing someone making numerous attempts to start a boat.
The witnesses said they saw Nunes struggling to start the boat’s motor. Nunes asked the witnesses for help in removing the boat’s mooring lines. The witnesses refused to help, according to [...]
